Changing Places provide a best practice example of the principles of Universal Design and accessible public infrastructure.
As part of the Absolutely everyone: State Disability Plan 2017-20, the Department of Health and Human Services is funding $2.6 million to construct 26 Changing Places facilities across Victoria.
The Changing Places Funding Round provides $2 million to construct 20 Changing Places built in popular tourist locations, parks and community hubs including the Disabled Winter Sports Alpine Access Centre near Falls Creek, Great Ocean Road at Anglesea, Portland foreshore, Yarrawonga foreshore and the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds. Three Marveloos have been funded for use at festivals and events to be included in future infrastructure developments.
A further $600,000 has been provided to fund six Changing Places including Werribee Open Range Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and four locations nominated by people with a disability from an online survey: Hamer Hall (Arts Centre Melbourne), Echuca, Geelong and Bendigo.
